Long lived, fast growing acacia, quite similar in habit to Blackwood. Provides excellent screening and shade as it continues it’s dense foliage all the way down near the base.

Perfumed yellow cream spherical flower heads. Twisted seed following after.

Light crumbly bark trunk. Dull green sickle shaped phyllodes (leaves) much thinner than Acacia Melanoxylon (Blackwood)

Bark and fibres were utilised by the Wadawurraung. Its leaves were used for dyeing

Can flower up to two times a year, its flowering pattern a lot more erratic than Acacia Melanoxylon (Blackwood)

Height x Width: 5-15m x 4-7m

Conditions: Adaptable. Tolerant of dry and moist soils, well drained clay soils. Full sun to semi-shade
