Small coastal shrub with glossy dark green leaves.

Flowers are scattered in terminal clusters, white with an orange centre with 5 fan like petals. 

Fruit is an orange globular drupe Orange to red. Fruit is eaten by birds TOXIC FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Used by the Wadawurrung for medicinal purposes.

Confined to coastline environments. useful in landscaping situations for its tough foliage that can be pruned to shape.

Can be mistaken for Italian Buckthorn (rhamnus alaternus) That has serrated edges on it’s leaves
