A dense sprawling wide, generally low shrub. Shiny dark green semi succulent leaves.

Flowers insignificant whiteish flowers in pyramidal sprays. Followed by light to dark red, juicy flat bitter tasting berries which the Indigenous ate along with its leaves.

Inland populations remain from times of higher sea levels.
A great plant for making a native hedge. Salt tolerant and

found in a wide range of habitats and soils.

Conditions: Moderately well drained soils, tolerant of acidic and alkaline soils. Full sun to semi-shade
