My approach
Local provenance is key to revegetation. I endeavour to grow species from seed collected from the Peninsula for local provenance, however there may be times when I cannot source the seed from the peninsula so I may have to order it from outside as close as possible. Seed is sourced sustainability and ethically by myself or brought from Bellarine Landcare. When local provenance is unavailable, seed is purchased from Victorian Native Seed (based near Daylesford) and Ballarat Region Seed Bank (a business that collects and stores seed from all different areas, including the peninsula and all around Victoria). Germinated on my property, with care my seedlings are then planted to forestry tubes or other pots using local potting mix, Osmocote native fertiliser, Seasol, Powerfeed and Graysons Regen Smokemaster 2000 to promote healthy growth.
